Danicah Waldo
MAID OF HONOR
From the moment Maya opened the door of her old NYC apartment to her new roommate, Danicah, it was fate. Did they find each other through Facebook or Craigslist? That may never be agreed upon, but what is for sure is that they are now lifelong sisters. Oh — and Danicah introduced Maya and Ronnie (read the story)! The trio spent the pandemic cooking, playing board games, and going to the beach. She is the cheese to their mac.
Jonathan Hymen
BEST MAN
Jonathan first met the groom at Columbia College Chicago, and they both despised each other. But then Jonathan invited Ronnie to audition for an improv comedy show that he was directing—Ronnie got the role and they have been best friends since! Though they live thousands of miles apart, the support they provide each other is indescribable. The two chat nearly every day, sometimes multiple times per day, so they never skip a beat on what’s happening in each other’s lives.
Stephanie Vetri
BRIDESMAID
Stephanie and Maya were lucky enough to join the big Italian family at the same time. They first got to know each other at the 5th annual Rontauk clambake in East Hampton. The two often talk about the memories they’ll share in the years ahead as their kids grow up as cousins—but really siblings—just like their husbands Frank and Ronnie did.
Frank Vetri
GROOMSMAN
The bond between Frank (or Frankie) and Ronnie is like no other. Growing up together as cousins, they are known to family members as “twins.” The two were inseparable as children, playing games, making movies, quoting Abbott & Costello, and running the family-owned real estate company, Hickory Hills.
Ali Spirito
BRIDESMAID
Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Maya and Ali were in the same Italian class together at USC, but their friendship became official when they serendipitously found themselves on a double date with Ali’s now-husband, Grant, and his frat brother, Surf. Allora… after much studying, the girls finally got to order gelato in Italian during their trip to Rome! Though they live cross-country, these two have found a way to support each other through all the throws of life.
Brian Walsh
GROOMSMAN
Rontauk Highways, crab boils and Jerry Seinfeld are the first things that come to mind when Ronnie thinks of Brian. There’s over a decade of friendship between the two and it all began at NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, where the two produced an interview with the very funny, Jerry Seinfeld. If you’ve read the “Our Story” page, then you know already that Brian was present the night Maya met Ronnie.
Brooke Azzaro
BRIDESMAID
Raised with southern hospitality and New York ambition, Brooke is the type of person you want as a friend. She’s the friend that brings the wine, the bagels, the cookies (and sometimes all three) whenever life calls for them. A fellow Upper Best Sider, Brooke can be spotted with the bride and groom around the neighborhood—enjoying the warm and chilly days by playing board games, sipping on tiki drinks and sharing memories with roaring laughter. The trio’s nights never end with “Goodbye,” it’s always, “See you tomorrow!”
Drew Lowther
GROOMSMAN
Ronnie was dealt the best hand when he met Drew at a friendly game of poker. You might ask, “Are they brothers?” because they get that question A LOT. Like a brother, Drew has always been at Ronnie’s side, encouraging him to go out of his comfort zone to enjoy the thrills of life. They share a love for cinema and Ronnie knows he can always call his friendly neighborhood Spider-Man during life’s ups and downs.
Ellie Kirk
BRIDESMAID
Born just a few weeks apart, Ellie and Maya grew up learning from and loving each other. Having been besties for nearly 30 years—from babies in matching outfits, to kiddos on mountain hikes, to teenagers riding the Santa Fe annual rodeo ferris wheel, to college freshman writing long-distance letters, to adults exploring Iceland together. The bride couldn’t imagine the wedding day without joyful Ellie by her side.
Michael Schuff
OFFICIANT & GROOMSMAN
Remember the role that Ronnie got in the improv show? Well, Michael was his scene partner during the audition. They both lived with Jonathan in Chicago and were known as “The 401 Boys.” Michael brings love and laughter to everyone he meets which is why the couple asked him to share that aloha as the officiant to their wedding.
Charlotte & Lily Vetri
FLOWER GIRLS
“Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters.” If Charlotte and Lily’s dance moves to the White Christmas classic song are any indication, these two are sure to be the cutest pair of petal throwers you have ever seen! After witnessing “European Charlotte” during her flower girl debut at Stephanie and Frank’s wedding in Portugal, the bride and groom can’t wait to see what “Hawaiian Charlotte” brings to the table! Lily already walked the aisle at Maya’s bridal shower wearing a toilet paper gown, so she’s well-rehearsed to take on the role too.
Lincoln Polidoro
RING BEARER
If there’s one thing we know for sure, Polidoro men really love the beach! Ronnie and his nephew, Lincoln have spent many summer days together, basking in the sun, building sand castles, hunting for shark teeth, and splashing around in pools. What better place to do all of that than on Maui? Having said that, hopefully, there are no shark teeth to be found in these Hawaiian waters.
